OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG I SAW A GREAT HORNED OWL AND ITS BABY TODAY OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ok. ok. today we completed the main sights and trails of our park. and, while i definitely feel like the west end of the park is not so picturesque or full of so many varieties of flora and mushrooms, it has made up for that in droves with FAUNA. we explored the Bison Paddock (and they were out, yay!), Polo Field, Casting Pool, and looped back past Middle Lake to check in on our coyote friend (who was there! sleeping in the same spot!). on our way back to my car, we noticed a group of folks standing together (with physical distance) facing a huge tree (pine, i believe). two people had scopes out, so we knew it was something good. and, lo and behold, they were all gawking at a Great Horned Owl and its fuzzy baby in it. it has been a perfect way to end our main exploration of our park. i have always wanted to see an owl in the park. and have looked up for them so many times. maybe it was supposed to be my reward for getting to know the park so well. we aren’t done with all the side trails. we still need to do all of the Botanical Garden. and the Lily Pond, once they’re done with the restoration. but for now, a very big project is DONE. and i feel like we are very good friends with our park. #LoveMyPark #Covid19SilverLinings
