today i managed to catch the last bit of sun, so i finally walked around Stow Lake! it’s truly weird not to do that once a week. walking around it and seeing the Mallard ladies bathing and enjoying the warm sun made me see the place as a bird spa. looked quite relaxing and refreshing! the Himalayan Jewel Orchid is going bonkers right now. the three Wood Ducks are at about peak plumage?? caught a quick sight of a Yellow Warbler and a territorial fight between Brewer’s Blackbirds and Red-winged Blackbirds. and, the Purple-leaf Plum and Bigleaf Maple trees are dropping their leaves like there’s no tomorrow. so odd to enter Indian Summer weather and simultaneously see the trees preparing for Fall!
