today i thought i’d go for the gold and try to find the Great Horned Owls of Stow Lake. thought maybe they’d also have an owlet or two around now and might be easier to spot? nope. at least, not on Strawberry Hill that i could see. but, i got to dust off my old digital camera to see if i could take better pics of owls than awkwardly holding up my iphone to my binocs. and, I CAN! can’t believe it took me this long to do this. a result can be found in the comments, as the GHOs of the Lily Pond were still in the same tree and obliged me. i managed to enjoy my visit up and down Strawberry Hill, where i was surprised to hear the noisy teenager Great Blue Herons who were begging down below! and, as a bonus, on my way home i spotted a Mallard family with three adorable fuzzy ducklings.
