today i visited Mallard Lake and Elk Glen Lake. haven’t been there in a while! such different places in the Fall. got to see a Black-crowned Night Heron at EGL (first time seeing one there) and this nutso fungi colony in The Oasis. and, while walking the South Trail of Mallard Lake, a mother with two little kids said to one of them, “Yes, that’s Totoro!” (referring to my backpack). i turned around, and she said to me, “It’s too funny. We call this the Totoro Trail.” happy to oblige, ma’am. happy to oblige!
