today i got lost in the park!

i walked around North Lake, then headed west on a trail i hadn’t taken before and got to a crossroads and realized i had no idea where i was. ended up at the Dutch Windmill! after my park excursion, i headed out to the Cliff House to catch sight of the Sooty Shearwaters. highlights include seeing two Black-crowned Night Herons (one sleeping!) and this raptor (Cooper’s Hawk, Bob / Juli?) at North Lake and meeting someone new during quarantine! a newish-to-birding couple arrived at the Cliff House to catch the Sooty Shearwaters as i was about to leave. and the woman chatted with me, like fellow birders do. and she asked my name, which i gave and then asked for hers. so nice to meet you, Becky!
