ok, ok, ok. so, a woman commented on that mama owl and owlet video on Nextdoor that i posted previously. and she said that she had seen a mama owl on Strawberry Hill fending off ravens from a couple different spots on the hill this morning. SO, we went out to see if we’d be able to spot any of them today. AND, WE DID OMG OMG OMG!!! i am particularly high off the fact that this is the first time i’ve ever been able to spot an owl all by MAHSELF! it’s been pretty much impossible for me to see an owl without it being pointed out to me in the past. but this time, we REALLY LOOKED at each and every tree on the hill. and i looked up at the tree in the top photo, having already looked at that same damn tree, and i noticed a gigantic pine cone. but then the pine cone had fur that moved in the wind. binocs confirmed an adult owl! could only see the back, so i moved around to get a better view, and then i saw TWO JUVENILE OWLS near it! we confirmed the adult as a Great Horned Owl from the irrigation pond. i can’t even tell you how thrilling it was to have spotted ALL THREE OWLS on my very own. AND to have been able to point them out to nearby strangers who asked what we were both looking up at with such delight.
