today we had to do an early outing as i have rehearsal (!) this afternoon. so we finished up Lake Merced by visiting the concrete bridge, a well known spot for birding. lots of Marsh Wrens mostly hidden, but we both got to see one up on top of the reeds. highlights include seeing a handful of Common Grackles pretty up close and two juvenile Red-shouldered Hawks testing out their wings with short and safe flights.
